About Pavilions of Splendour

Between 1811 and 1814, the MCC moved from its Marylebone home to a new rural ground - previously the site of a duck pond - in St. John's Wood, London. This remains the site of Lord's Cricket Ground to this day, and the home of the Marylebone Cricket Club, custodian and arbiter of the laws and spirit of the game.

Long seen as the home of cricket, Lord's has a special meaning to fans of the game, and with almost two hundred years of history, a unique place amongst sports grounds throughout the world. Illustrated throughout with photographs and drawings, Pavilions of Splendour is a unique pictorial account of one of the most famous sporting venues in the world.
