James Callaghan was born in 1912. He was was a Labour MP from 1945 to 1987, and Prime Minister from 1976 to 1979. He died in 2005.
Baroness Jay of Paddington, was appointed a life peer in 1992, and acted as an opposition Whip in the House of Lords. She has held production posts within the BBC, was a journalist on Panorama and This Week, and has contributed to Newsnight, Any Questions, Question Time and other current affairs programmes. Her father was the former Labour Prime Minister James Callaghan.
