The story I tell in this book is a simple one. It describes the adventures of a man who went to the Holy Land to see the places associated with the life of Christ and to find out what new light the historian and the archaeologist have cast upon the world of the Gospels. About H.V. Morton A Fleet Street reporter, H V Morton (1892-1979) fought in the First World War and was present at the opening of Tutankhamun's tomb. One of the century's most popular travel writers, he published travelogues from Spain, Italy and the Middle East as well as the famous series on the British Isles. After the Second World War Morton moved to a farm in South Africa, where he died in 1979.
