A Pocketful of Python Volume 1
Terry Jones
Foreword by Terry Gilliam
Celebrating the fortieth anniversary of the first BBC broadcast of Monty Python's Flying Circus in 1969. A celebration of the silly and enduring genius of the Monty Python team. Each volume in the Pocketful series is picked by a different Python and includes their very best visual and verbal gags. This pocket series features the very best of Monty Python: a collection of favourite sketches, gags, words, lyrics chosen by Terry Jones - writer, actor and filmmaker - who has picked some of his prized bits from across the whole range of Python books, scripts and films. Included are such memorable moments as 'The French Taunt King Arthur', 'The Lumberjack Song', 'What Have the Romans Ever Done for Us?', 'The Court Martial of Sapper Walters', 'Every Sperm is Sacred', 'The Man Who Talks Entirely in Anagrams' and other priceless pieces of Python humour. Accompanying these words are some two dozen images that have become synonymous with Python over three decades. About the author: Educated at Oxford, Terry Jones worked in theatre, and wrote revues and scripts for the BBC before becoming one of the creators of Monty Python. He has written many books for children and is also the author (with other scholars) of Who Murdered Chaucer? and a study of Chaucer's Knight. He has directed such films as Personal Services, Erik the Viking and The Wind in the Willows, along with all the Python films.
