Private Eye meets Rory Bremner and Delia Smith in the most delicious political satire since the advent of New Labour
When Tony Blair and New Labour fought the General Election of 1997 the Tories were easy prey. The cry of "18 years' misrule" was deafening and "sleaze" all-pervading. The electorate took to Tony in a big way - here was a man who meant what he said and said what he meant. His reward was an overwhelming victory followed by another in 2001. Cabinet Pudding is a tasty mix of what happened in the Jubilee summer of 2002 with a bit of crystal ball gazing to determine where the Third Way (or la route troisième as Jacques Chirac puts it) will lead us all. A fearless exposé of the machinations of cabinet governance in the Third Way, this is a gloriously irreverent and pointed satire by one half of the successful Dave "Pod" Podmore writing team. ("Pod" of the Guardian and Radio 4.)
