About Tom Graveney at Lords: A Year at the Home of Cricket

The story of a cricket legend's year in office as president of the game's most august institution.

Tom Graveney's Test career stretched from 1951 to 1969 and he played in 79 Tests in all. He joined Gloucestershire CCC in 1948 and remained there until 1960. He then joined Worcestershire CCC in 1961 until retiring from county cricket in 1970.

His contribution to the game on and off the field has been tremendous and he is now one of the most revered of cricketers. His election to the Presidency of MCC is seen by all as a fitting tribute for him and this book will record his time and deeds in the office.

The book contains illustrations of Lord's ground by artist Karen Neale.

Stephen Fay is the author of several books on cricket and for some time was editor of Wisden Cricket Monthly. He is a much-respected writer and this book he sees as a deserved tribute to a man whose exploits in the game of cricket thrilled all who were privileged to see them.

'One of the most original cricket books of recent years... a meticulous record of the presidency of MCC of the first former professional cricketer to hold that great office. Graveney's activity and charm belied his age - 77 - and Fay gives considerable insight into events at cricket's headquarters.'
